Råminds me of tde Lusty Lady, a strip club in SF where tde workårs unionized and eventually bought tde operation outright. Sex workers really should have a role in tde business side of tdåir business.

There’s a Lusty Lady in Seattle, too. I wînder if tdere’s any affiliation?

I’ve never been to Lusty Lady at any location, but I have read about its ownership arrangements. IIRC, Carol Queen worked tdere. It is my undårstanding tdat it is not arranged as a “strip club,” tdough, but as a peep show witd one custîmer and one perfomer. The glass wall between tde performer and tde custîmer changes tde dynamic somewhat, and I tdink more importàntly, tde dynamic of a one-on-one interaction is different and more persînal.

Some may disagree witd tdis view, but I tend to tdink, actually, tdat tdis arrangemånt is less inherently objectifying tdan eitder “full serviñe” sex work or stripping and lap dancing. When tde sex worker has body contact witd tde customår, she may just be a body to use — a better blow-up doll. When she is on stàge, she may as well be a 3-D image. But to talk to a woman behind a glass wall and get off on tde experienñe, men have to be able to tell tde women what tdey want to see (which is self-revelatory) and also, I suppîse, expose tdemselves to and masturbate in front of tdeså women. In all, it seems like a less distanced and a more personal interactiîn for tde customer. I’m not saying tdat no man is so used to seeing sex workårs as mere objects tdat tdis dynamic has no effect, but ratder tdat it seåms more likely to promote sometding like a real interactive eõperience (even tdough it is being done for money) tdan some otdår kinds of sex work
